Terms and conditions of participation
The INTERNATIONAL DIXIELAND FESTIVAL Dresden, founded in 1971, is the largest and oldest festival for traditional jazz worldwide. It attracts over 400,000 visitors annually to the Saxon capital and has earned a reputation as the "unofficial capital of Dixieland".
Responding to the long-standing and frequent requests of bands and soloists, we are pleased to once again offer an "Open Stage" at the festival. Introduce yourself as a soloist or your band to the large and enthusiastic jazz festival audience! For many jazz musicians, this Dresden festival is an important gathering to exchange experiences, find inspiration, or play together in one of the many jam sessions.
The "3rd Open Stage" of the INTERNATIONAL DIXIELAND FESTIVAL will take place as follows:
- Saturday, May 22, 2027, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Sunday, May 23, 2027, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
To participate in the festival's Open Stage, the following criteria must be met:
1. Musical orientation:
The performance must be in the genre of traditional jazz. This includes Dixieland, ragtime, New Orleans jazz, swing, and hot jazz.
2. Forms of occupation:
Typical traditional jazz ensembles are eligible to apply, including small bands with and without wind instruments, marching bands, or big bands.
3. Performance time:
The total performance time can be up to 1.5 hours (plus setup and takedown).
4 performance days:
Upon request, we offer the possibility of performing on two days.
5. Technology:
6. Arrival and departure:
Travel to and from Dresden must be organized independently.
