Das INTERNATIONALE DIXIELAND FESTIVAL Dresden, im Jahr 1971 gegründet, ist das größte und älteste Festival für Traditional Jazz weltweit. Es lockt jährlich bis zu über 400.000 Besucher in die sächsische Landeshauptstadt und hat sich als „heimliche Hauptstadt des Dixielands“ einen Namen gemacht.

Um auf langjährigen und vielfachen Wunsch von Bands und Solisten wieder eingehen zu können freuen wir uns, wieder eine »Open Stage« zum Festival bereitstellen zu können. Stellt Euch als Solist oder Eure Band dem großen und jazzbegeisterten Festivalpublikum vor! Für viele Jazz-Musiker ist dieses Dresdner Festival ein wichtiges Treffen, um Erfahrungen auszutauschen, sich inspirieren zu lassen oder in einer der vielen Sessions gemeinsam zu musizieren.

Die »2. Open Stage« des INTERNATIONALEN DIXIELAND FESTIVALS findet wie folgt statt:

• Freitag, 15. Mai 2026, 13.00 bis 17.00 Uhr,
• Samstag, 16. Mai 2026, 11.00 bis 18.00 Uhr,
• Sonntag, 17. Mai 2026, 11.00 bis 17.00 Uhr.

Um an der Open Stage desFestivals teilnehmen zu können, müssen folgende Kriterien erfüllt sein:

1. Musikalische Ausrichtung:
Die Darbietung muss im Bereich Traditional Jazz liegen. Hierzu zählen Dixieland, Ragtime, New Orleans Jazz, Swing, Hot Jazz.

2. Besetzungsformen:
Erlaubt sind die typischen Besetzungen des Traditional Jazz, darunter kleine Bands mit und ohne Bläser, Marching Bands oder Bigbands.

3. Auftrittszeit:
Die gesamte Auftrittszeit kann bis zu 1,5 Stunden betragen (zzgl. Auf- und Abbau).

4. Auftrittstage:
Es besteht die Möglichkeit, an maximal zwei Tagen aufzutreten.

5. Bühne:
Eine Podestbühne steht zur Verfügung. Zum aktuellen Planungsstand ist diese Bühne unüberdacht.

6. Technik:
Die notwendige Technik muss von den Bands selbst gestellt werden und sollte auf ein Minimum reduziert sein, wie beim Traditional Jazz und unserem Festival üblich.

7. An- und Abreise:
Die An- und Abreise nach und von Dresden muss selbst organisiert werden. Eine vom Veranstalter legitimierte Zufahrt zur Bühne zum Ent- und Beladen wird gewährleistet.

Sonstige Hinweise

• Das Festival stellt lediglich eine Auftrittsmöglichkeit innerhalb der „Dresdner Jazzmeile“ auf der Prager Straße zur Verfügung.
• Für alle Aufwendungen sind die Bands und Solisten selbst verantwortlich.
• Die Spielplanung liegt bei den Organisatoren des Festivals.
• Es erfolgt eine Veröffentlichung des Line-ups auf der Webseite, im Festivalmagazin und in anderen Medien.

The INTERNATIONAL DIXIELAND FESTIVAL Dresden, founded in 1971, is the largest and oldest festival for traditional jazz in the world. It attracts up to 400,000 visitors to the Saxon state capital every year and has made a name for itself as the “secret capital of Dixieland”.

In response to the long-standing and frequent requests from bands and solo performers, we are delighted to once again offer an Open Stage as part of the festival. Take the opportunity to introduce yourself as a soloist – or your band – to our large and jazz-enthusiastic festival audience! For many jazz musicians, this Dresden festival is an important meeting place to exchange experiences, find new inspiration, and join in one of the many jam sessions.

The “2st Open Stage” of the INTERNATIONAL DIXIELAND FESTIVAL will take place as follows:

• Friday, May 15, 2026, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m,
• Saturday, May 16, 2026, 11.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m,
• Sunday, May 17, 2026, 11.00 am to 5.00 pm.

The following criteria must be met in order to participate in the festival's Open Stage:

1. musical orientation:
The performance must be in the Traditional Jazz genre. This includes Dixieland, Ragtime, New Orleans Jazz, Swing, Hot Jazz.

2. instrumentation:
The typical line-ups of traditional jazz are permitted, including small bands with and without horns, marching bands or big bands.

3. performance time:
The total performance time can be up to 1.5 hours (plus set-up and dismantling).

4. performance days:
It is possible to perform on a maximum of two days.

5. stage:
A platform stage is available. At the current state of planning, this stage is uncovered.

6. technical equipment:
The necessary technology must be provided by the bands themselves and should be kept to a minimum, as is usual at Traditional Jazz and our festival.

7. arrival and departure:
Arrival and departure to and from Dresden must be organized by yourself. Access to the stage for loading and unloading will be provided by the organizer.

Other information

• The festival only provides a performance opportunity within the “Dresdner Jazzmeile” on Prager Straße.
• The bands and soloists themselves are responsible for all expenses.
• The scheduling is the responsibility of the festival organizers.The line-up will be published on the website, in the festival magazine and in other media.
