The 53rd INTERNATIONAL DIXIELAND FESTIVAL is open

Beitrag vom Sunday, 11. May 2025

Thousands of visitors swung, danced, and celebrated across the city today in glorious spring weather, getting into the mood for a whole week of Dixieland.

The starting signal for the 53rd festival edition was given in the morning, traditionally at “Dixieland in the Family” at Dresden Zoo. Together with media partner Sächsische Zeitung, the organizers had invited families to a festive day of fun, games, excitement, many animals, and of course plenty of music. At “Dixie at Konzertplatz Weißer Hirsch,” at “Heide-Dixieland” at Landgut Hofewiese in Langebrück, at the “brunch” at Hotel Ramada by Wyndham Dresden, and at the “Dixie stop at Radelbar,” visitors were also able to get into the mood for this year’s Dixieland Festival in style and with unrestrained good cheer.

Today, May 11, is just the opening of a total of eight action-packed festival days. The 53rd INTERNATIONAL DIXIELAND FESTIVAL offers a total of 277 hours of jazz, including 148 hours with free admission. 42 bands and soloists from eight nations will perform at 48 events.

Tickets are still available for many events, including the “1923 Prohibition Party” and the “Open-Air Gala” at Junge Garde. Tickets are also still available for the “Riverboat Shuffle” and the “special Riverboat trip.” All information and tickets for the events can be found here.
